Fellowship Programs

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine currently offers 4 fellowship programs:

Urologic and Surgical Pathology 

Newly established under the directorship of the new Chair and international expert in urologic pathology, Mahul Amin, MD , this fellowship offers 1 year of advanced training in surgical pathology with a focus on urologic pathology.

Pediatric Pathology 

Under the direction of Jie Zhang, MD, this 1 year ACGME accredited fellowship offers training at 2 leading pediatric institutions affiliated with UTHSC, LeBonheur Children’s Hospital and St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.

Forensic Pathology 

Under the direction of Paul Benson, MD, this 1 year ACGME accredited fellowship offers training in conjunction with the Shelby County Medical Examiner’s Office at the newly renovated West Tennessee Regional Forensic Center


Under the directorship of Frank White, MD, this 1 year ACGME accredited program offers training under the direction of several established hematopathologists in affiliated institutions including Methodist University Hospital and St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital. (Not currently recruiting)

Fellowship Application Process 

Applications for fellowship positions are made  as described for each program, and submitted to the GME Coordinator.
